I came back from Tokushima, Japan last week, but I am still reminiscing about our hot summer there…. We went to visit my friend in Kamikatsu town, all the way high up the mountain where there were terraced tangerine farms everywhere. I was so scared to keep driving by thinking about falling down the cliff but I made it.
He lives in an altitude of 440m.
For some reason, we started to coloring together. lol. According to him, coloring books in general took away half of its joy because they decided what to color. Thus, we started to draw the base of coloring picture.
Made a frame over scribble, and colored inside it.
This town, Kamikatsu is famous internationally by its “Zero Waste” action.
She cries a lot so I forgot why she was crying…
My friend, Koji Nakano, is a photographer who influenced me when I was an editor at the local publishing company. He is also a writer, editor, musician and a father of two. I really admire his simple, yet very rich life style. In the bookshelf in my NY home, there is his photography book “Karera no ibasho (The pace they are in)” right next to Diane Arbus book but I definitely look at his book more often. It was too short to catch up but I sucked all his good energy in. Thank you.
My son still complains that “I never want to go back to that spider-web house” but I will visit next year again. This is his “laid back” Japanese blog hasuimo.
I wish I could touch the surface of these mountains.

Hi Hiroko! I have come to follow your blog and love your photo artistry. And your kids are adorable and especially your daughter is so expressive. You truly are talented. I do know you from Queens Ny when I was living there. I am an old friend of Steve’s and remember you when you were first expecting. Please say Hi to Steve and I hope that you are all doing well. I can tell that you are because your kids certainly look very happy! Must be from your love and Steve of course. Warm regards, Pauline

Dear Pauline,
Thank you for your comment. Of course I remember you…probably last time that I saw you was at Heidi’s BBQ party at her old house. How have you been? How is your husband? Are you on FB? please friend request me. Kids are handful but I enjoy every minutes of it. All the best, HIroko
